Well, how did this happen! We’ve just passed the one-year mark since Five Favorites was created.
What does this mean for you? Well, there are 50+ weeks of recommendations now - many of which I feel are evergreen. I stand by all of them personally.
As a subscriber (thank you!) you know that weekly recommendations are archived once they’re one month old — but the full archive is available to those who make this newsletter possible. Paid subscribers also get full access to all travel issues, which are personally written guides that require extra time, research, and professional expertise.
I’m pleased to announce I’ve got another exciting perk that has been in the works for a while…introducing: The Favorites Directory!
This is a Google Sheet of every recommendation I’ve made in this newsletter. I created it to make it easier for you to find a specific recommendation quickly — whether that’s “What should I watch this week on Netflix?”, “What should I make for dinner that takes less than 30 minutes?” or, “What was that book she talked way too much about again?” (It’s My Brilliant Friend, btw.)
Here’s a preview of what that looks like:
You can see most of the categories at the bottom of this snapshot (and there are more!) Each page includes live links to everything so that you can find a recipe or an article without having to wade through my commentary :)
The directory is available to paid subscribers with an active subscription. And to facilitate that for you, I’m offering 15% discount on annual subscriptions to celebrate 1 year of 5 favorites. It’s good for the rest of this month (and that includes you, current annual subscribers!)
Current paid subscribers will receive an invitation to the directory by the end of the week. If you haven’t received yours by the weekend, please respond to this or any email from me, or send me a message via the Substack app, so that I can get you properly set up.
To all of you — thanks so much for being here. It truly is an honor to be landing in your inbox each week. Your encouragement makes me want to keep writing here.
